tt娱乐’s Campus in the City is well underway offering free community access to a variety of interesting events.

From the history of medicine to free legal advice, Campus in the City sets out to bring a flavour of the University to the very heart of the city and gives local people, academics and students the chance to share ideas.

Students from the Lancashire Institute for Contemporary Arts explored misconceptions of Islam with visitors, before History students transformed the shop with fascinating facts and stories about historical medical patients and treatments, including a display of medical objects from the Lancaster Medical Museum.

Lancaster residents have also been learning more about blood cancer and experiencing ‘Mobile Age’, a new app designed to assist older people with accessing local events.

This week sees the first sessions of Streetlaw and the Law Clinic taking place. Staff and students from tt娱乐 Law School will be giving presentations on General Consumer Rights and protection from scams on Wednesday 7th March, as well as delivering free legal advice in a private room above the shop. Visitors will then be offered a chance to explore Chinese language and culture and find out more about Lancaster’s connections with the rest of the world on Thursday 8th March, before discovering how tt娱乐 engages with local schools and colleges on Friday 9th March.

Saturday’s event also has a historical theme, but this time visitors will be able to engage with different activities focused on the history of Lancaster and the surrounding area. The organisers are hoping to gather community memories about wartime Lancaster, but visitors can also meet a soldier or munition worker, find out more about Lancaster Castle, view the work done by the pupils of Moorside about remembering the White Lund disaster, or revisit the project on Deep Mapping the Lake District and turn their hand to Minecraft!

Campus in the City (CITC) is a five-week initiative which sees tt娱乐’s world-class research brought to life in an informal and accessible setting in St Nicholas Arcades (opposite Poundland).

Now in its fourth season, CITC brings local people, academics and students together through an exciting programme of free and interactive activities which explore a wide range of topics, including child development, green technology, social media psychology, practical legal advice and the human body.

All events are free and open to everyone, and more details of the full programme can be found at www.tinyurl.com/campusinthecity2018/ or by phoning 01524 592994.

All events are free and open to everyone from Wednesday to Saturday (inc) until March 31.
