English language support
The University offers several pre-sessional English Language programmes. Once you begin your course, English Language support is organised through Learning Development in the Library. For information on current workshops and drop-ins go to the Language and Grammar page of the Learning Skills website.
Academic language and learning support at Lancaster is provided through Learning Developers:

Most departments also have advisers, called Directors of Studies or Academic Advisers. They can help with any problems you may have with registration, reading lists, timetables and course material. Any change in registration should be discussed first with the Director of Studies in your major department.
Every student can find personal support in their college. You will be able to call upon a friendly support network that includes Student Reps, College Managers, Wellbeing Officers and College Advisors, and Accommodation Managers. Your college support team can refer you to specialist support services if needed and will also liaise with academic departments on your behalf. Further details can be provided by your College.
Student Based Services
Student Based Services consists of a range of teams that provide different types of support to students. Their services are available to all students at tt娱乐, and they can all be accessed by visiting the Base, which is located on campus in University House, Alexandra Square. Normal opening hours are 9am-5pm Monday to Friday, and you can also contact the Base by calling +44 (0)1524 592525 or emailing email@example.com.

The tt娱乐 Students’ Union (LUSU) is independent from the University and provides advice, representation, services and student activities. Its leaders are democratically elected by students.
All students are automatically members of the Students’ Union and therefore also members of the national body – the National Union of Students (NUS).
It also provides a range of clubs and societies catering for international students.
You can find out more and join societies catering for a wide range of interests at the Welcome Fair in Welcome Week. For further details about all Student Union services and activities please visit the LUSU website.
Lancaster campus is a very safe environment. There is a 24-hour Security Reception with staff available at all times, including mobile patrols around campus. Porters and staff based in each college are available should you have any concerns. In the case of an emergency out of normal working hours, please call the Security Lodge on +44 (0)1524 594541.
The Chaplaincy Centre and Islamic Prayer Room
The Chaplaincy serves all members of the University irrespective of faith. There is a team of Chaplains available and a variety of rooms available for different faith groups and student societies. A range of activities take place at the Chaplaincy Centre during Welcome Week and throughout the year and everyone is welcome.
Your College will be your home, study and social centre for your time here at Lancaster. Your College also offers personal support.
You will be able to call upon a friendly network of staff that includes College Managers, Wellbeing Officers and College Advisors.
A JCR (Junior Common Room Exec) and Fresher Reps are available to help with any questions or issues you may have.
Each College also has an Accommodation Manager who is available to help with any issues relating to your accommodation.
Each College has a team of Porters who are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Go to them to collect your mail/parcels, or to report any problems outside of the normal office hours.
Your JCR and College will organise various social events throughout the year. They offer great opportunities to meet new friends and join in the College spirit.
