What Will You Study
Philosophy at Lancaster is pluralistic in approach, and open to engagement and collaboration with other disciplines and institutions. We can supervise in most areas, but our particular strengths are in philosophy of mind and psychology, theoretical and applied ethics, post-Kantian European philosophy, and bioethics. We enjoy good working relationships with related departments and centres, and joint supervision arrangements are possible.
Your work towards a PhD in philosophy at Lancaster will be supported by your supervisors, by the other members of philosophy staff, and by our active community of postgraduate students. You will also find support through our busy programme of reading groups, work in progress meetings, visiting speaker seminars, professional development classes, and research conferences.
